How do I start selling AKKO Plans?

How do I start selling
AKKO Plans?

If you’re ready to begin offering AKKO Plans to your customers, schedule a call with us to get you set up!

Step 1

We will provide your store with a counter-top marketing display to place by your register which outlines all the coverage info and cost. Then you’ll receive a sheet of activation codes.

If you have an online store you’d also like to sell AKKO plans through, we’ll provide FREE assistance in getting it configured to sell our plan!

Step 2

When a customer purchases coverage, the employee at your register provides one of the activation codes from your store’s sheet to the customer by simply writing it on the customer’s receipt.

If the customer purchases through your website, an activation code is emailed to them.

Step 3

The customer goes to our website, getAKKO.com, and inputs their activation code to register their coverage. That’s it!

At the end of every month, AKKO sends you an invoice to collect the money for your sales and you retain your cut.

The Retail Details

What you need to know about selling AKKO Plans.

Your store makes 10-15% on every sale of an AKKO Plan.*

Our AKKO Adult plan is sold for $179 for a 1yr plan.

Our AKKO College Plan is sold for $108 for a 1yr plan.

*The range for your compensation varies on the volume of your sales and hitting certain bonus incentives which we offer. The compensation is a marketing & administration fee and NOT any form of commission.

Nope! There is no sales tax on an AKKO Plan since it is a service.

The only taxes you will pay is on your income generated from each sale.

Nope! As a retail partner, you are only helping to market and administer customers’ registrations for coverage. Upon purchasing an activation code for a coverage plan in your store, customers come to our website to actually register their account and activate their coverage plan.

The marketing material we will provide for you to place at your store’s checkout also contains AKKO’s branding very cleary along with the required disclaimers and notices that a customer needs to see to know who the insurance underwriter and brokerage administrator are.

Yes! What’s unique and amazing about our AKKO plan is that it is not attached to any individual item. This means that a customer can purchase just an AKKO plan at your store or on your website and then are able to activate their plan and add items they already own or have previously purchased from you to be covered on their plan.

If your site is built on WordPress and uses WooCommerce or if you have a Shopify store, we can set up an extension to let you sell our plan through your store. With every purchase, an activation code will automatically be emailed to the customer.

If your site does not use WordPress or Shopify, or you’re not sure how your website is configured, schedule a call with us and we’ll check out your site and figure out the best set-up for you. We don’t charge anything to get your site ready to sell!

YES! If you’re a shop which offers repair services, AKKO customers can (and almost always do) return to your shop to get their repairs done.

So whether it’s damages to electronics, cameras, music instruments, skiis, snowboards, surfboards, or bikes, you can provide your invoice for repair work to the customer and then they submit that with their claim and receive payment to get the repairs done.

Having your customers carry our coverage can lead to a BIG bump in your revenues from repair work. If customers don’t have insurance coverage and must pay out of their own pocket for repairs for their items, they may often wait off on getting items fixed, shop around for a cheaper place to get repairs done, or decide not to get their items fixed at all.

The same goes for when a customer needs an item replaced due to extensive damage or theft. If they have an AKKO Plan, they’ll have the insurance payout to be able to easily return to your store and replace their items!

Limitations:

The AKKO College Base Plan ($9/month) includes $2,000 of coverage PER INCIDENT*. There are no annual coverage limits or a limit on the number of claims you may file.

*$2,000 of coverage PER INCIDENT means that if next week on Monday your phone is stolen, up to $2,000 is covered for you to replace your phone.

If the next day on Tuesday you drop your laptop and the screen is smashed, up to $2,000 is covered for you to repair it.

Even if that same day, Tuesday afternoon, you also drop your sunglasses and the lenses crack, up to another $2,000 is covered for you to repair or replace them.

This demonstrates PER INCIDENT coverage. And there’s no limit on how much can be paid out for mishaps of Accidental Damage or Theft each year, or even each month, week or day.

HOWEVER, if during a single incident someone steals your entire backpack, filled with your phone, laptop, and sunglasses, up to $2,000 total is covered to replace all those items and any other contents of your backpack, plus the backpack itself.

Higher PER INCIDENT coverage limits are available!

Once you’re registered, you can upgrade your coverage to a PER INCIDENT coverage limit as high as $10,000! But for a more common $3,000 – $5,000 PER INCIDENT coverage limit upgrade, it’s only a couple more dollars per month 🙂

The $2,000 of PER INCIDENT coverage is more than enough for the majority of college students based on our studies and the claims rates of currently covered students nationwide. But for students with more expensive items like a high-end laptop, or specialty gear like photography or music/audio equipment, the option to upgrade your limit is easily available. Plus you can change your coverage limit whenever you like, upgrading or downgrading, and pay a pro-rated adjusted amount.

We re-state all this information under this separate Frequently Asked Question because sometimes users don’t click through all questions/answers and we want to make sure all prospective customers are fully informed 🙂

Yup! The amount you pay when something of yours is damaged or stolen is called your “deductible.”

It’s the amount we deduct from your payout for a claim.

The reason insurance plans contain a deductible is so that you are still motivated to be careful with your stuff.

But we make sure to set a deductible that’s at least easily affordable rather than the expensive deductibles on most other protection plans for phones, laptops, and other items.

On our Adult AKKO Plan, the deductible for any claims is $99. On the College AKKO Plan, it’s $25.

Coverage begins 12:01AM the day after your account has been activated, following registration.

As soon as customer’s items are added to their account along with their pictures, they’re fully protected!

NO. This coverage does not apply to any damage or theft or loss that affects your car or motor vehicle (such as a street scooter or motorcycle) or any items incorporated or mounted/installed on to the exterior/interior of your vehicle. You’d have to go through your Auto-Insurance for recovering losses.

However, coverage DOES apply to items inside a car that are Damaged or Stolen so long as proof is provided of forced entry into the vehicle indicating that the doors/windows/trunk/cargo bags were closed and locked on the vehicle.

Just as with any other claims for Theft, a customer must also provide a copy of their filed police report.

YES! As long as customers are a US citizen/resident with our coverage, their items are fully protected when they travel or are living/staying abroad. ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!

The same procedure applies for filing claims if any items are affected by accidental damage, theft, or vandalism.

Claims info & other frequent questions.

AKKO serves as a facilitator of this insurance coverage with added enhancements for our users that are unique to our platform as well as a simpler and faster process for being able to get your stuff covered and process claims faster and better.

Customers simply log-in to their account and go to the “Claims” section. Then they file a new claim and select the items that have been affected by damage or were stolen. They’ll have to provide an account of what happened along with proof of ownership if the item costs over $100.

Proof of ownership is provided by a purchase receipt or evidence of a purchase transaction. Customers may be able to contact a retailer or the seller of an item they bought an item from for a copy of a receipt or proof of purchase if they do not have one. In addition, they’ll have to provide pictures of the damages to their items, if applicable.

As a retailer, be sure to provide purchase receipts for the items customers want to protect and remind them to take a picture and upload the receipt to their account!

For all incidents of Theft and Vandalism, a police report is required to process a claim and receive repairs/replacement of items. Online reports are accepted for any theft or vandalism valued LESS than $1,000. If the cost to repair/replace items from theft or vandalism exceeds $1,000 then customers need a copy of the physical report.

Once a claim is approved, AKKO members have the premium benefit of receiving $ electronically INSTANTLY!

Normally you’d have to wait up to two weeks depending on the items affected and the incident if you were going through an average insurer or protection plan.

The amount of time resolving a claim will vary based on what type of claim is being made and what types of items were affected. (For example, an incident of theft will take longer than solving reimbursement for a cracked phone screen.)

Repairs:
If customers have an Apple device, repairs can be done at their local Apple Store. For most other claims involving non-Apple products, customers just need to take their items to a local repair shop that can provide the services needed.

For items items taken to a store, once an estimate is received, the staff handling the claim would then approve a cash payout to the customer for the cost of the repairs or to purchase a replacement item if the damage is too extensive.

Any independent repair services must be approved by a claims representative for the customer to be reimbursed by their coverage plan. After filing a claim, the customer will receive an email regarding their claim and instructions for proceeding to have items repaired or replaced.
